CHEYENNE WELLS, CO - Cargill is enhancing its grain handling capabilities in Eastern Colorado by agreeing to acquire certain assets of TradeOne, LLC, a grain storage and merchandising company.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Pending completion of all steps in the acquisition agreement, effective June 11, 2012 Cargill will assume full ownership and operation of the former TradeOne elevator in Cheyenne Wells, which includes two million bushels of storage capacity. Additionally, Cargill will originate, store and merchandise grain at the former TradeOne elevators in Lamar, Granada, and Holly, Colorado and in Tribune, Kansas. As part of the agreement, these four elevators will be owned and operated by Northern Ag Service, Inc., which will manage daily operations. Cargill will purchase grain at these locations and serve as the primary contact for customers.
“This agreement enhances our ability to serve producers in Eastern Colorado,” said Barry Bauer, Cargill AgHorizons farm service group leader for the Great Plains region. “The addition of these assets into our existing grain handling network adds significant storage capacity and convenience for local growers during the busy harvest time.”
Part of the Cheyenne Wells community since1989, Cargill will continue to offer producers across the region a diverse portfolio of grain marketing contracts, risk management products and advisory services to help them succeed.
“Cargill is committed to growing with our customers in Eastern Colorado,” said Bauer. “With this agreement we look forward to continuing to earn their business.”
