An Integral Look at Fire and Explosion Protection

ALFELD/HANOVER - The latest findings and developments of the last years were introduced at the 10th GreCon fire protection symposium "Protection against Dust Fires and Explosions in the Industry".
The symposium took place in Bad Wildungen near Kassel from 26 to 27 April 2012.
With around 160 participants, the anniversary event of the series, which has been organised by the specialist for spark detection and extinguishment systems of Alfeld for more than 30 years, met with high response.
Once again, the GreCon fire protection symposium has been an important meeting point for OEMs, plant operators, insurance specialists, inspectors and fire protection engineers to inform themselves about the latest developments in the prevention and fighting of fires and explosions and to establish and foster important interdisciplinary contacts. The share of participants who are plant operators has again been very high; a sign showing how highly valued system availability is today.
The aspect of preventive and defensive fire protection was examined in the usual integral way in a total of 14 lectures. The topics ranged from methods for adequate risk analysis via concrete protection concepts and suitable technical equipment through to the design of organisational preventive fire protection.
The many examples of events causing damage and the related awareness of how fast even minor failures in plant-specific and organisational fire protection can have life-threatening consequences, were especially interesting.
