NOORDWIJKERHOUT - For all industries where cleaning and inspection of rotary valves is a regular nuisance, TBMA has developed a full range of “Quick Clean” blowing seals and rotary valves.
Reliability, ergonomics and user friendliness have been key factors in the development process.
The TBMA valves are unique in the fact that the rotor can be rotated manually in the “open” position. The length of the guide bars ensures a large enough opening for the operator to look and reach into the valve.

The special bearing construction and spline shaft connector, prevent the rotor from touching the body and damage when reassembling the valve.
The operator does not need to reset the clearance on the rotor.
Special Rotary Valves with Steam Tracing
Avoiding so called “Cold Spots” is crucial for some processes. Temperature drops may influence the flow properties of the bulk materials handled. Bridging or sticking of material as a result of this, causes expensive downtime of the process installation.
Heat tracing is the only way to overcome the above mentioned problems. Rotary Valves in particular are very difficult to trace because of their shape and small tolerances between the moving parts.

For a large plastic producing multinational, TBMA Europe BV has developed a series of steam jacketed rotary valves with heat tracing. These rotary valves handle “fresh plastic material” which turns sticky once its temperature drops below 160ºC. A homogene temperature throughout rotary valve body, covers, rotor and rotor blades is of the biggest importance. The temperature of the valve is monitored and used as a starting condition for the complete installation.
The dimensions, bearing construction and shaft sealing arrangement are identical to the TBMA “High Duty” H-AR valve series. The steam jacketed valve body, covers and rotor have especially been developed for the purpose.
Special Rotary Valves for the Dairy Industry
In the dairy industry, TBMA has supplied a lot of rotary valves. The valves are handling Lactose, a difficult product which smears and builds up on the inside of a rotary valve.
The difficulties with the old valves, like jamming as a result of product build-up and the short service life of the shaft seals. had to be overcome.

For this TBMA has developed a special labyrinth shaft seal with an air supply monitoring system. Possible problems are detected at a very early stage with this system. This enables the customer to do preventive maintenance, preventing permanent damage to the valve and costly down time. Special rotors are used to cause minimum friction and keep the inside of the valve clean from product.
The most “critical” valves are mobile. This ensures an easy exchange and the valves can be moved to a “wet cleaning” area, outside the production. See the pictures.
These unique valve concepts are designed with the more then 40 years experience off TBMA.
